Support Us.....An Overview

Financial support from the public and private sectors has a direct impact on the children served in our schools.† Support from the community is what makes the difference between simply providing basic educational needs and providing quality, innovative educational instruction that builds a strong foundation of success for every child served.†

School Giving Programs:
Listed below are some examples of programs supported in part or in whole by the generous donations of our contributors.

Capital Campaign for New Campus Expansion at Gateway College Prep School (Georgetown, Tx)
In the aggregate, charter schools receive less money per student to operate and house themselves than do regular public schools. Unlike regular public schools in most states, charter schools receive no capital funds because they cannot tap into local property or other tax revenue. By default, charter schools must pay for their facilities out of their operating budgets if they are unable to secure housing at no charge. The School Launch program is how we generate start-up and capital funds for our new schools. Donors may give money, buildings or materials to our new school sites.†††† www.gatewaylegacy.org

Angel Tree
We seek donations of birthday, Christmas and other holiday gifts to go to each of our Orenda students that are living in one of the residential or hospital based schools on their birthday anniversary and over the holidays. It is a lot of fun to see our students' faces light up when they get to open their unexpected gifts. For most of these students it will be the best birthday and holiday they have ever had.

Master Teacher
The Master Teacher program is an endowment that has been established to develop our teachers. We provide teacher training and continuing education tuition assistance to teachers who show promise and commit to stay with our organization. This is a recruitment, motivation and retention tool that helps us to attract and keep the talented teacher corps we need to work with our challenging students.

Art Smart
The fine arts are a big part of our Orenda schools. The expression from our fine arts program helps to engage and ignite our students to learn. We seek donors to provide stage sets, materials, costumes, audio visual equipment and/or technical support. Companies can sponsor our performances or display our students' art, advertise in our schools published art calendar, etc.

Tupi Tutors
The word "Tupi" comes from the Native American Miwoks meaning "to pull up." Tupi Tutors serve as "surrogate parents" for those students who do not have a parent or loved one available to work with the school. The Tupi Tutor attends teacher-student-parent meetings, school performances and may work with their student after school hours to help with school assignments, GED preparation or other job training assignments.
